Re: (ET) Disconnect maintenance on BB600 Elec-trak

Correct. Technically what I could do is put the main lug on the disconnect, then a bolt, then the secondary lug, then the sensor lug then a second bolt. I'm not happy with traditional zinc plated washers because they turn brown over time (means more resistance). I'll look into the silicon/bronze washers in the future.

Meantime I probably pull more power than most with my tractor, so we'll see how it holds up. When blowing up hill with wet snow the power draw hits insane levels especially since you need to go fast enough to keep the auger pumping out the snow thru the chute.

"double bolt" it? perhaps this means use two nuts - I'd still want a lock washer in there.

Actual copper would be too soft for a lock washer, bolt or nut. I use silicon-bronze split washers as a compatible conductive material on things like the disconnect (which could appear "discolored" as compared to the brass nuts?). Can arguably use typical zinc-plated lock washer as a somewhat similar metal to the lugs.

The ideal choice can get tricky as choice of materials/plating vs available styles can complicate things. I do like the wavy washers for low torque studs on PbA batteries which may creep out of the lead over time.

I'll let this be an experiment. If it fails I'll get copper lock
washers for maximum conductivity. Or another copper bolt and double
bolt it.

Since the lock washer was also discolored I dispensed with it and just
tightened the brass bolt hard.

You really don't want to dispense with lock washers on a vehicle that jolts
and vibrates.  You'll be back in the same place before long.

Smart EV folks use lock washers on bolted connections.  I'll use split
washers in a pinch, but my preference is for either Bellville (dished)
washers or wave washers.  I keep a supply of them on hand in the sizes I'm
most likely to need.
