Re: (ET) Sticking PTO contactor



Kilovac is good stuff, but SPST means can't short the deck motors (third prong on the PTO plug) to provide the braking to stop the blades when shut off. Original is SPDT.

Although I'm not sure if he really needs a solution or was just proving some humor....

I've bought about 24 of these for cycle testing electronics at work. They're a pretty good deal at $40, new never used. Should work fine on the Elec Trak with a dropping resistor in series with the 24V coil.

Charlie, GE replaced the Open Air PTO contactor with an enclosed contactor such as used for armature reversing in later production.
If you have the HSM, it should be an easy swap. :)

So I pulled the back off the dash and found all the relays and switches working fine, then pulled the cover under the dash and found I could make 'er go by tapping on the PTO contactor with a hammer.

Very annoying because​ taxes hit pretty hard this year, my compressor is dead, and I need to put a new roof on the house... stupid expensive part only lasted 40 years with no maintenance, grumble grumble grumble.
