Those connectors aren't a great idea for road EVs, though I used them on
my
Comuta-Car for a couple of years and did OK. In an ET, the stress level
(mechanical and current) is lower. Gunk 'em up real well with Vaseline
when
you assemble them, and they'll be fine, at least for a year or two. Then
you can re-do them with the good stuff.
I suspect that the person who had your tractor before was using some kind
of
batteries with nonstandard posts - like maybe those idiotic Trojan mini-
posts.
