Re: (ET) New thing I learned about lift motors

I had my drive motor rewound for tmy C-185. It cost as much as a new one.
Now I have a spare. Bought a rebuilt one while he worked on the damaged
one. I was lucky to find a shop near me. It was run by an older man in the
back of a small shop. Him and his dog and hundreds of motors to work on.
All sizes and shapes from stove exhaust fans to high horsepower factory
motors. Go around back and pound on the door. Took three months, but he
did great work.

Back in the days of road EV conversions running forklift motors, I used to
hear of hobbyists having those motors rewound, usually after abusing them
on the dragstrip.

However, I've never had much luck taking smaller motors to motor shops.
They were focused on industrial motors and wouldn't even look at my mower
motors.

I did have success with auto electrics shops. That was just bearings and
brushes, never rewinding, though it's probably worth a try. It may be
expensive.
