The cord on the John Deere made me chuckle. I was running my snowblower on nearly expired batteries last winter. So, a 120' extension cord proved optimal.
A couple of years ago, before I converted it to Lion batteries, I strapped an 1800W inverter generator, variac, step down transformer and a big rectifier on my ET. I found that I could mow in LL on level ground pretty much indefinitely, at around 1800Watts. The old batteries were really bad, only helped a little for a short time. Even shorter if I tried to run in L gear.
