Re: (ET) Wimpy mower motor

Top should come right off. Try turning the armature while lifting with two screwdrivers, one on each side.

Small or large motor?

Mower motor starts but only goes a rev or two and dies. Armature rotates normally (like the others). I swapped out the thermal cut out switch and got same symptoms. Does this sound like bad brushes? What's the trick in getting the brush assy end off the motor. All hex nuts are removed. I've opened it about 3/8 in. but doesn't want to move beyond that. I'm reluctant to apply too much screw driver tip leverage. Is this normal?
Thanks for any suggestions.

Then I have them on right, thought so. Someday I'll figure out how this

    Never a dull moment.
