Re: (ET) E20 Foot Switch Lube

The pedal is a bit loose - I guess I need to go through it. Maybe I just need to clean everything up and add some light lube. I thought about the spring - a bit of extra spring force would probably do it.

Frankly I haven't tried to look at it in detail yet. I looked in the service manual and didn't see anything there. I figured this might be a common problem, with a known solution. Maybe not.

Hm. I replaced the two pins that go into the footboard on the pedal with a real good door hinge, and it works a lot better. I think it cocks to the side, contributing to friction that causes it to stick.

There should also be a way to adjust the spring force, or you could get a stronger spring. I used a thin layer of lithium grease on mine, tends to stick a bit more in the winter.

Every now and then my E20 foot switch sticks just enough so it doesn't
come all the way back up. This makes it so it will not run again after
changing direction or depressing the brake unless I manually pull the
slider back up (pulling up on the foot pedal usually does not do it).
I've cleaned it and tried various lubes on it (forget what I tried last
time), but evidently I don't have it set up right. It's like the spring
isn't strong enough, but I suspect it is really misalignment or an error
in lubrication (too much, too little, wrong type).

Any words of wisdom?

Thanks,
