Re: (ET) A new coat of paint....



Here are a couple of photos. If someone would like to put them on elec-trac.org or somewhere else, that would be good. I change servers occasionally, so these links won't work forever.

I scraped off the mess around the left motor so you could see there is no rust. It's probably the first cleaning since it was galvanized 3 or 4 years ago.

Harry,

Can you post (or email) a pic or two of your galvanized deck?  Also, does the galvanizing hold up on the underside where most decks have rust pits already?

You can't paint galvanized steel if the zinc has had enough time to oxidize, as the paint won't stick. But if you do it quick enough it works. I don't know if the time is seconds, hours or days. My local galvanizing place offers to paint it when they finish galvanizing. They are V&S Galvanizing, with several locations nationwide.
For others, try the Yellow Pages or Mr Google. He knows a lot of stuff.
