No charger should be left connected all the time, no matter what the
manufacturer says.
My understanding is that batteries will last longer floated at 13.2V
(for a 12V battery) than not connected and periodically recharged. If
your charger floats higher than this, you definitely don't want to
leave it on. In any case, it creates a phantom load, which perhaps
you don't want.
