Re: (ET) Alltrax install!

A simple question, with some great safety concerns.

The only time in a pre-Alltrax machine, that my overheat relay was triggered was pulling or pushing up a steep hill. In that situation, I do not want to "coast" anywhere!!!

The Alltrax controller protects the motor by not getting it overheated to begin with! It measure current and voltage and "knows" what is going on by those measurements, not some crude poorly working temperature relay.

OK - OK

Bob asked a simple question, That was!

I have a question for all of you that have done the alltrax conversion on your tractors. I am almost finished with the E20 conversion and am wondering if any of you have kept the CB-3 breaker in your conversions? The CB-3 is an internal breaker in the main motor that has the two leads #5 & #25 coming out of the motor connector plug along with the field wires #62 & #36 on the motor. If you have kept this internal breaker, how did you end up wiring it? I believe that the Alltrax schematic doesn't show it, nor does the controller seem to need it to function. I'm just leery of snipping too many wires that are not required for this installation to function.

Thanks,

I said to wire it in series with the Brake Switch (also the Seat Sw. & Key SW.).

look at the wiring diagram for the Alltrax. You will see the SEAT SW., KEY SW., & BRAKE SW. are wired to the MAIN CONTACTOR. Turning off any of these will turn off the power to the Alltrax unit. If the tractor is moving it will just coast to a stop, NO FIELD POWER, NO PLUG BRAKING, & NO STRESS TO THE MOTOR OR CONTROLLER. I Put the Over Temperature Sw. their because there is no over temp safety in the Alltrax unit. So why not use it? besides it is close to the brake switch and was wired to it before.

He did not ask about regen, series motors or 375 volt circuits in cars. Some times you guys get so tecked up that you just confuse the people asking the question.

I am sorry if I offended anyone, that is not what I am trying to do here.

   Thank you
