Re: (ET) Alltrax DCX300 ET in E20

Hi Raymon,

On my E-20 DA I had 2 shunts.  One was a metal strip about 3 inch long by ¾ inch wide between two posts.  It was connected to card 4 by two small wires.  It was not the load meter shunt.  The other was a normal looking piece of #6 wire 20 inches long (measured from the center of the hole in one lug to the center of the hole in the other lug).  I don't remember where it was in the original wiring.  When I installed my Alltrax I made a new shunt the same as the old one.  I also moved the two posts nearer to the bottom of the compartment and made one the Negative Battery Common Tie Point (TP2).  The other one is the Positive Tie Point (TP3).  I connected the new shunt from the Master Shutoff Switch (TP1) to TP3.  The meter positive wire went to (TP1), and the meter negative wire  to TP3.  I think I should have used a shorter shunt (maybe 19 inch) as my meter reads in the yellow when I am mowing.  If you check out my web site, the wiring diagrams page.  on the first diagram the shunt is on the top left side.  The headlights, charger, small accessory plug and the volt meter do not go thru the shunt, but they could.

Good luck

WOW is right! Neil the shunt in my tractor is a copper strip which is mounted up on two insulated posts. I prepared a length of #6 copper wire to the specified length with lugs on each end but used instead the original copper shunt. When I install the new DCX300 ET I will use the fuse that Steve Richardson says he is sending with the unit. Thanks for the comment. Raymon
