Re: (ET) new owner with a question
I have an E16...was my grandmother's. It sat for about 15 years before I
got it. I changed all the batteries, and while the fuel meter came up
immediately, everything else just sat there. I had to low the panel on
the fron of the dash (over the two battieries under the hood) and play
around with the contacts. I've found since that it helps to exercise it
weekly. It sat all winter but we ran it through the speed settings about
once a week just to keep all the contacts working.

No surprise. All batteries are connected in series, then to the big
disconnect. Unless all the batteries are in place and connected, you
won't
see any indication on the meter nor will the tractor run.
Don't be too disappointed if you get all the batteries in and it still
won't
go. If it's been sitting for quite a while, it's likely that there are
some
oxidized contacts on relays and control cards. You may even find that a
family of mice has lived inside the instrument panel, which usually raises
hob with the electronics (such as it is).
