(ET) Another idea for an AC source

Anyone thought about just running a 1hp or so AC motor belted to the main drive motor for a simple 120 volt inverter? One could create the field current by using 200mfd or so of motor run (not start) capacitors across the motor.

I'm thinking along the lines of putting an AC motor in series with the main drive motor using an extra long belt off one of the pulleys, then engaging the capacitors (and thus the 120 volts) with a switch. Put a GFCI type outlet on the frame, leave it in cruise control, and you have 120 volts with as much power as you can fit under the floorboards. No switch, motor freewheels and no current is produced=no drag.

Thoughts?
