I typically mow in speed L. D1 on an E20 is a bit fast for mowing (the 
deck bangs around on my slightly uneven terrain) and D2 is way too fast. 
Note that I mow in cruise control speed (full armature, full field) and 
sometimes speed up to 5,6 when on a long straight.

As for braking, the E20's regen keeps the tractor at the same *speed* 
regardless of climbing my 30 degree hill or going down it. Really neat. 
However regen really only works in speed 4, one gets less regen in 
speeds 3,2,1 and one gets less regen in D1 and D2.
