(ET) How do you remove the mower motor flanges?

Ok, this is insane.

So I want to overhaul my deck motor. Tall, thin, 30 years old or so. In order to do this you have to remove the bottom mower flange.

So I try to use a bearing puller. No dice; ripped the puller apart.

So I took it to an alternator shop and they put it in the 20 ton hydraulic press. Once again, no dice, it would not budge.

So I took it to a big greasy truck transmission rebuild shop. They put it on their press.

And promptly started to bend their press around the motor. At peak they were putting 135 TONS of force on the mount. No dice, in fact the bottom of the mount is now slightly curled up.

What does it take to remove these things, and if it's a cutting tool, what's the best way? Now that Bill is gone, is there a source for these flanges?
