Re: (ET) new parts

Yes, the fuse holders and the master power switch are weak points. Most of my tractors have the new main power switch from Bill ( Northern Tool & Equipment 800-533-5545 used to carry them). The Master Disconnect Switch is made by Joseph Pollak Corp. Bill had a small piece of Bakelite or none conductive material ( 1/2 X 1 1/2 X 4 approx) drilled so as to go over the (2) terminals and an extra hole drilled for another terminal (total 3) so you could connect the fuseable link to. The fuse holders are replaced by the Universal In-Line Fuse holders made BUSS. They are the Bakelite type with 12 AWG wire. Your local auto store should have them.

My question though, is what caused such a blow-out?

The fuse holders are a weak point. There are two problems I have seen:

1. The 'springyness' goes out of them so they make poor contact with the
fuse body.
B. At least on some, the part that actually holds the fuse end is riveted
to
the part that the wire attaches to. The rivet connection gets loose (maybe
a
dissimilar metal problem?) - what a bad design!

That's one place I have no qualms about changing out to something better.
