(ET) ET new technology and abandoning the ICE
I have an E20 that runs reliably, after I changed the control relays to
24 volt P&B cube relays with a zener diode to make the coils 36 volts,
replaced the circuit board connector with a terminal strip, replaced the
circuit board diodes with new 6 amp 100 volt, replaced 1/2 of the speed
control microswitches (I just swapped the unused (higher speeds) for the
lower speeds), and replaced the charger cap with a new oil filled unit.
I then went thru all the connectors, oiling each connection with
transmission fluid (great lube with anti-oxidants),squeezing the female
faston connectors for tight connections and replacing all the mower deck
wiring & plug. I did this work about 4 years ago, not an electrical
problem since. Just blade sharpening, belt tightening, steering fixing,
bearing replacing. Mower motors now need bearing replacing.
We use our E20 for mowing about 2/3 acre.
