You need chains. My driveway is sloped (a small part of it somewhat steeply) and I discovered the first time I tried to plow that I had to have them, period. They make all the difference. 

Sure. But you go with what ya got.
Also it looks like the blower has a big advantage over the plow: The auger helps to pull you along. Very interesting. Also in going up hill you're not pushing a mound of snow up hill (just the 300lb blower)
