Are you storing it inside or outside?
Fading might be the biggest problem, but otherwise, I recommend a good
hardshell (carnouba)wax on it. Generally, clearcoating with anything like
polyurethane or laquer will probably take the latex off or make it krinkle.
With the cool weather, you will probably be better off to wait untill the
weather warms and the paint gets most of it's outgassing done (a month 
above
60°. Also, you might want to wait 6 months or a year and see if the paint 
is
still staying on the metal before putting too much work into protecting it.
Unless you are confident the latex is going to last, don't put any silicone
wax on it. That will just make the replacement paint job cleaning work more
difficult.
