RE: (ET) looking for 36 volt charger...
Thanks for all the suggestions. I've pretty much decided I really need to
go
with a new fully automated smart charger simply because my e-trac and I
don't
live together and I get to see it only on the weekends. I believe I need
someething I can plug in and forget. I know I could use a Landis charge
controller with the original ferro-resonant charger but ...
I've found two that I like. The ChargeTek TPRO320 is very versatile in
that
it'll charge 12/24/36volt batteries and I can use purposes other than just
the
e-trac. the other, IOTA Engineering does 36v only but can be used as a
power
supply as well as a charger.
I read and confirmed by phone that I will not have to split the pack or
install
complex switching to use the ChargeTek as it is actually 3 isolated
chargers
capable of isolating the the 3 pairs of 6v batts. I would like to do that
because of the 12v and 18 volt taps into the pack that put unequal loads
on the
loads batteries.
Also I did some calling looking for used 36v chargers at golf courses and
golf
car dealers. No deals out here in Seattle. Couldn't find a used charger
for
under $200 and they were only semi-automatic or timer-controlled.
Eventually I'll have an Outback Inverter/charger and MX controller but
that's a
ways off yet.
thanks again everyone,
