What worked for me was to first take a bolt and put a small dimple in the head (to keep the puller from drifting) and then thread the bolt part way into the shaft. Then pull on the bottom of the hub - not on the flange (not strong enough) I found I needed a bearing puller to get under the hub - couldn't get a grip with the puller arms directly. Then a couple of cycles of heat and cool and it came off with very little effort using a 8 inch manual puller.
