Re: (ET) Cruise control

OK, here comes a thesis, on why the E-20 had the speed control arrangement
that it does. Since all the large frame tractors had the same amount of
energy storage onboard, and the E-20 has a much more hairy chested traction
motor, something had to be done to assure the biggest bang for the buck, as
far as run time is concerned.
The foot throttle is more car like , as far as the initial start
is
concerned. But , holding the throttle at a particular speed setting can be
tedious, and tiring.'Cruise control' on the other hand, can conveniently
maintain a set speed, which happens to be the most efficient operating
regime for the traction motor,[models E-20 AA through DA ],or the nearest
most efficient speed, [E-20 EA and later, on the Fast Cruise speed ] . By
selecting the gear ratio best suited to the task, the 'set speed' feature
of
the hand throttle is still available, along with having the most efficient
use of the energy available. Any thoughts ?
