If any of you find your ETs left out in the rain as often as I do you may want to do as I have done and protect those gauges from moisture. I have made simple clear plastic covers from discarded storm door panels. I have "typed" a very crude sort of representation below as I don't think the ET list will accept drawings in any other form. The best way is to make a paper template first as different models require different shapes. The cut out for the steering column is all that keeps it in place. You need to allow access to the switches and or the speed control. I use a roto cutting tool to cut it out.
Another simple trick I use is to put a 1 foot + strip of self adhering weather stripping on the cowling under the hood to keep rain from running down into the relay board. It deflects the water off to the sides saving you from blowing relays. I find I have to remove the 2 rubber feet from the hood so as not to conflict with the weather stripping. I haven't lost a relay since I did this to each of the 5 or so ETs that I run. (before I lost 2 in one week) I also apply oil to all the body seams about every 6 months.
