Re:      Online Renewal of Parking Permits

Public Safety Administrative Services is now accepting online applications for 2010-2011 employee parking permits on the Grafton and Medford/Somerville campuses. Employee rates this year will be the same as for the 2009-2010 parking permits:

Full-time $250.00

Half-time $125.00

To apply online go to: http://publicsafety.tufts.edu/parking and click the “Parking Permit Application” link. You will be required to login using your Trumpeter email username and password. Payroll deduction is the only payment method currently available.

To update your Garage Card when purchasing your new permit:

1.      Locate your 6- or 7-digit garage card number found on the back of your Garage Card.

2.      Enter this number when completing your online application.

3.      Do not discard your current garage entry card! It will be re-authorized for the period of your permit. It is not necessary to replace your current card.

Parking Permits will be delivered toward the end of August. Choosing delivery to your campus address will expedite delivery.

Please direct any questions to Public Safety Administrative Services at 617-627-3692, or in person at our office, located on the first floor of the Boston Ave parking garage on the Medford/Somerville Campus. We are open Monday through Friday from 9a.m. to 5 p.m.

Re:      Training Notice: Biosafety in Research Laboratories

This training will focus on Biosafety principles and practices for Biosafety Level 1 and Biosafety Level 2 laboratories. In addition, details on the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standard will be discussed. Topics include risk assessments, hazards of agents, exposure routes, PPE, engineering controls, decontamination, spill response, exposure response, training requirements, and lab responsibilities. This training is MANDATORY for anyone listed on an active IBC-approved Biohazardous Material Registration. Employees not currently on an active registration are encouraged to attend as well.

Tufts Environmental Health and Safety is offering this training on all campuses throughout the year as a service to our employees. We encourage you to identify any of your department staff that may need this training and see to it that they attend an upcoming session.

Class size is limited and certificates of attendance will be provided at the end of each session; Registration is required. Please email Tufts EHS (ehs-training tufts edu) to reserve your spot. Thank you for your assistance.
