I have overhauled three of the Peerless 2318 transaxles and one of the 1216 transaxles found in the small frame tractors. Suffice it to say they can be an adventure. Corrosion being the first battle to be fought in order to disassemble them. I have the service information that was provided by Bill Gunn. The whole nine yards is a 48,144 KB PDF. You WILL need an
oxy-acetylene torch and you WILL need a large press. Those flanges are resistant to leaving their homes. Figure on some brake caliper and rotor adventures also. The case halves
will need the faces flat sanded to prevent leakage, as cast
iron shrinks and warps as it ages. There are also some things to do the keep the flat Torrington ® bearings in the final drive on the axle shafts-differential side gears from becoming Claymores. :) Let me know if I
can help.
