The puzzler here is that the tractor will run the first time he hits the
pedal after starting the controller up cold. Once he lets off the pedal,
the contactor drops out normally but then won't pull in again until he
shuts
the controller down for about 15 minutes.
I'm no EE, but this suggests to me that maybe some RC timing circuit isn't
discharging its cap at the right rate. Shut the controller down for a
while, and the charge bleeds off enough to get another (single) accelerate-
stop cycle in.
I might be tempted to disconnect the motor and replace it with a light
bulb
for safe testing, and then try bypassing the contactor to see what
happens.
Chances are that the controller itself won't start up, though.
