Ok, found the problem I think: The issue is that the start switch in thethrottle box has gone "bad". It's a SPDT switch, and from what I can seeit's erratic. Which probably means it will signal closed, but not open.

Unfortunately of course the part v3-1-d8 is no longer around, but thereis a replacement part number of v7-1c17d8 which can be gotten fromDigi-Key. I'll order a few and see how they work.
