Re: (ET) Elec-Trak yellow
I was selling custom spray cans for a number of years but phased it out
starting a year or two ago as an ongoing headache with storage, special
shipping & temperature requirements, quality of finish issues*, and
concerns over the perceived high price.
More recently an auto-body supply shop matched the GE yellow to a
vintage Chevy/GMC color 5283
http://paintref.com/cgi-bin/paintdetail.cgi?gmcode=WA5283
You should be able to have this mixed at your local auto-body supply
place. There are also various on-line paint shops that will ship it to
you (such as
http://www.automotivetouchup.com/sitesearch.aspx?q=5283
note I have never dealt with them, just the first place that popped up
when I did a search). Either way runs around $20/can.
The new "Tuscan Sun" Rust-Oleum color looks interesting, at least based
on the color shown on my computer screen - thanks for sharing. I'll have
to get a can to try. Not an automotive type finish but easy to use and
price is nice at $4/can.
*Important note: if using auto-body type finishes (including what I've
sold), you must use compatible auto body type primers. Ask the supply
shop for guidance. If you use the typical Rust-Oleum paints from places
like Home Depot (including "Tuscan Sun"), you must use the Rust-Oleum
primers as seen in the same display rack. Using typical Rust-Oleum
primer with an automotive top coat can produce "alligatoring" or other
imperfections. And just to confuse things, Rust-Oleum also makes
auto-body type paints which you may see at AutoZone or Pep Boys etc.

What yellow spray paint (in cans) are a good match to GE's original
yellow?
Supposedly the color GE used was "New Holland Yellow." I found some
acrylic
enamel of that color in a quart can at a farm store in the early 2000s.
It
did seem like a reasonable match at the time.
I think Bill Gunn used to sell GE yellow in spray cans, so maybe ask
Jim
Coate?
