Being markedly less ambitious that you, Chris, and not also not as blessed 
with leftover ET motors, I'd probably use a 120v sewage ejector pump.  

I'd power it with a coiuple of batteries in the weight box, and a nice big 
inverter. 

Actually, about 18-20 years ago I pumped out a pond with a derelict 
shallow 
well pump.   It woiuldn't pump against diaphram tank pressure, but it 
handled the pond just fine.
