Re: (ET) charger, desulfator

Mike - some of us are conviced that any simple voltage level based charger controller like the Landis does not fully charge the batteries because batteries need to be charged past their ideal pack voltage to fully charge.  Setting the Landis controller to a higher voltage will mean it constantly overcharges the batteries.  The OEM timed charger was a dumb charger and left it up to the user how long / much to charge the batteries.  The more modern chargers like the soneil have a more complex algorithm for how much to charge the batteries.  That's why I personally think the combination of Landis controlled OEM charger and Soneil type maintainer is the best compromise.
Disclaimer - I'm no expert - just my findings based on years of usage.

David,
So if my OEM charger is working fine (seems to be), with the
Landis charger, you're saying there would be no benefit to using a
maintainer/desulfator? Will charging with the OEM charger prevent/limit
lead sulfate buildup?

Thanks,
Mike
