In the real world, I've seen golf car batteries produce around 1300-1500
amps for short periods (that's approximate; it was kind of hard to read
the
ammeter at that point).

The internal resistance of a golf car battery is about 0.003 ohms. By
Ohm's
law, I = E / R => 6 / .003 = 2000.  So a golf car battery should be able
to
produce 2000 amps into a short circuit.

But it isn't gonna like it! If you ask a golf car battery to deliver more
than about 500 amps very often and for long periods of time, it tends to
live a short, unhappy life.
