I have a box of parts do that with one of my e15s. Part of the point of the exercise would be to make it dual-mode: either drive it by remote or from the seat (as usual) with no hassle to switch modes. And I guess a guy should lock up the r/c transmitter if he's got wise-acre kids...

There was a group at a university that used an elec-trak for a robot chassis. just takes money and time.
