Re: (ET) where is every one
One thing about winches - the cable. When using a short repetitive stroke
on a winch, like raising a plow, it's not uncommon for the cable to get
pinched in the underlying layers of cable When this happens, rapid cable
wear and failure may occur. The original ET lift motor with a STRAP is a
much better idea for short stroke lifts like a plow blade. There are
winches that use a strap, or perhaps one might be adapted. In any case,
the
noises you hear from the winch may be the cable binding up on itself and
the
spool.
With my ATV winch, I play it all the way out (all 50 feet), and then drag a
heavy object back to the ATV just to retension the cable after use. This
prevents the dreaded cable bind. I do this each time the winch is used.

Here's my update:
I've been busy with too many projects. Managed to replace my toast
lift motor with a 12v winch mounted where the old spool was. Works
well but I don't know how long it will last. It's making bad noises
already. Could use a limit switch. Plowed the first snow two days ago.
Spread a load of gravel a month ago. Wanting to close in my canopy
with plexiglas for rain/snow/cold. No time to do it right now. Heated
seat is fabulous. Transmission started to make a not nice rough sound.
Possibly the pulley bearing. Batteries still doing well.
