Hooray,  got the replacement motor in, running so started a bit of 
mowing - blade loosened up - think there was a bit of rust on the shaft 
and didn't seat.  Tightened blade and did about a 1/4 acre with no 
problems and no hotter than the other motor (actually just warm)

Only thing, I think the engineer that designed the deck mount should be 
committed to purgatory with the job of continually taking them off and 
remounting, preferably after a bit of crud has accumulated and in the 
side yard without help.  ('-')  Classic case of a candidate for the 
Darwin award.
