Re: (ET) Removing mower blade

Heat, Kroil, and then the poor man's impact wrench - a box end wrench and hammer.Yes, I know you can't hold the shaft from turning, but if you can manage to out the wrench on and give it a good tap, it may give get it moving. I take it you can't get a vice grip or pipe wrench on the motor shaft? And be careful not to bend the shaft; even a small amount will really make it vibrate when running. Actually, if heat and Kroil don't do it, it may be worth taking it to someone with a real impact wrench, rather than chancing bending the shaft.

This concerns a Craftsman battery powered push mower, but perhaps would be similar for an ET?

The nut holding the blade to the shaft has apparently not been removed in years. When I hold the blade, and turn the nut, the motor shaft turns with it. I don't see any way to hold the motor shaft and keep it from turning. I thought of an impact wrench (no easy access to one) and heat (will try today), but if that doesn't work, are there other options?

Thanks.
