Generators are never the best choice. Because you are always wasting energy (gas) when things are not being used. The best way to use a generator is to use it to charge a battery bank. And besides, what do you do when the gas runs out and you can't get it or it costs $7 a gallon? Batteries can be charged with solar modules.
