Re: (ET) More Power Inverters
We bought an Asko washer (W660) and dryer (T760) and they're supposed to
have the same 20+ yr longevity. The washer spin cycle is something like
1,600 rpm so the clothes come out almost dry. With the old top loader, the
gating factor was the dryer but with this front loader, the gating factor
is
the washer - it just takes so little to dry stuff. Counter to being good
for battery backup though, the washer runs on 220v and heats the water
itself (does not even have a hot water connection).
Ok, just a tad off topic...

They only sell direct. So you have to be able to unload it from the
tractor trailer. I imagine it's the only way they can keep the price at
least somewhat decent.
The wet parts are all stainless, it's easy to fix (though I haven't
needed to). I don't plan on ever buying another washer. It's easier on
the clothes than a 'normal' top loader and uses way less water and
electricity. The clothes are drier after spinning than other washers. I
feel good owning it and using it. It was almost traumatic taking my old
washer (a front loader White-Westinghouse) to the dump; I had kept it
going over 20 years. This is an investment that will pay off over time.
I buy cheap Chinese stuff too; it's hard not to. But when I buy a
'durable good' I try to buy something that will truly be durable.
Ok, I'm getting off the soapbox.. and I'll try to get back on topic.....
