We got one about 3 1/2 years ago also. There was a local seller (in SE PA). We didn't have to pay as much as that.
Are you generally happy with the machine? My wife complained at first that it didn't work as well as others, but we are still using it, so I guess it is OK. Not only does it save electricity, but water too. Nice to reduce the load on our septic drain field.

When I bought a Staber washer 3 or 4 years ago they were direct sellers
with no dealer network. I haven't checked lately but assuming they
still are then it is not surprising that Lowe's or any big box store
wouldn't have heard of them.
I didn't pay anywhere near $1300 though. either their prices have gone
way up or there's something special abou t these models ???
