I have had problems with the later decks bending in as well. Not because it was weak or rusted thin, but because it lacked the front roller that the older decks had. I have some areas of the lawn that are quite rough and if you cut low and had one of the casters fall into a hole the front lip would act as a grader blade and wanted to dig deeper because of its shape. If you were lucky the ground just scraped away after compressing the shocks and you kept going. If you were unlucky it would stop you in your tracks. I had the same thing happen on crowned areas of the lawn, like when going in and out of ditches. That got real old so I welded a roller on and the problem went away. The best deck for me was one of the oldest (I believe). Front roller, welded handle for tipping up the deck, angle iron deck bracing, and cast aluminum caster brackets instead of the cheaper stamped stuff. Regards, Dean A.
