(ET) Elec-Trak.Com Status/Futures

Hello All,

As you know I’ve been trying to get the elec-trak.com site to be the “archive library” of all things with our ET’s.  Here’s a status report and future plans for the site:

WWW-site:

-          The site was moved to a new host to improve security. Currently on a 2-year contract ($240), fully paid up.

-          Gallery software license was renewed at a cost of $40

-          Forum software license was renewed at a cost of $30

-          Purchased ‘Links’ software for $35

-          We have automatic backups and database exports running nightly

-     Physically, the site is in great shape and running very economically.

Content:

-          We have a lot of lookers – average of 3 new users per day!

-          #1 on search engines, over 60 sites link to us.

-          A lot of items have been added recently.

-          We’ve listed the parts/price lists from the companies who still sell commercial parts.

-          We now have the Homeowner’s Service Manual in PDF format

-          The forum software vendor, VBulletin, still has not come out with a “mail to forum” feature that better fits the low traffic flow of our world. Supposedly it’s on the map for 2007, but I’m not holding my breath.

-          We need submissions, donations of content!!

Futures:

-          By early 2007, I want the site moved over from being privately held (i.e. me, myself, and I) to a 501-C non-profit corporation. Thus the “club” can really become a “club”.

-          This is becoming urgent as the Elec-Trak Owner’s Club applied for and has an interim award of the trademark “Elec-Trak”. I didn’t want some third-party to grab the expired trademark and then have us over a barrel in the future. This will also allow us to sell t-shirts, caps, mugs, etc with the logo on them.

-          We are now starting to use an “Electronic Distribution Copyright” on PDF’s on the site.  We’re working on donations and contributions, and frankly it would really suck if someone downloaded all the content and started selling it on eBay.

-          We still need to beg Bill Gunn about releasing the original design plans for the ET’s.

 Regards all,
