Re: (ET) Motor control for lift

If you are using a PWM motor control for the lift, how do you reverse?
I was looking at the controls at electricscooterparts and I don't see reverse mentioned.
The MC7 controller I wrote about earllier has a reversing control input.  That works good on a 2 wire motor.  Since we have a 3 wire motor, I locked the MC7 in forward and reverse with a 2p2t. dash switch.  The switch also turns the MC7 on & off.  See the bottom of my wiring page on my web site.  http://ralphgv.tripod.com/  I used a pot with a lock on the shaft so I can set the speed and lock it there.
I have a winch I will be replacing my lift motor with and currently I am planning on adding a 12V 17ah SLA fed by a 3A DC-DC converter. The winch will be mounted on a steel plate over the charger and feed through a hole in the grill with a fairlead mounted on it  I'm converting to Alltrax and based on install pictures I've seen I won't have any spare room in the console so I was going to mount the DC-DC converter and SLA to a panel on top of the front batteries.
This would give me a 12V source with no tap for other things as well but I'm thinking I'm going to beat the crap out of the battery and it would be better to save it for my lights and controls.
Diverse Electronic Services at,  http://divelec.tripod.com/html/mc7.html   also sells Soneil battery chargers  The 3610RF looks like a good replacement for the GE charger.  It is good for Gel, Sealed, and wet Lead Acid batteries.  It would save a lot of room in the front of our tractors for a larger winch.  Maybe one of our battery experts can tell us if it would work, and how fast it could charge a pack?  They even have a chart on its charging curve if you click on the picture of the unit.

Maybe I would be better off with a motor controller for the lift since I could control speed as well. At the rate my project is proceeding I'm open to ideas.
They also sell a center off self centering pot for their MCIPC controllers.  I don't think it would work with the MC7, but it is a nice unit that we might use for other projects.
