I wouldn't assume anything about the "original" wiring!
Out of a dozen or so ET's I've poked around inside, I haven't seen one
that hasn't had some amount of creative modifications over the years,
ranging from minor to major to bizarre. If someone decided to bypass the
safety switches on the brakes and seat, who knows what else has been
altered.
Wiring from the ground up could indeed be the easiest way in the long
run to fully understand where everything is going.
