Re: (ET) refinishing my "new" E15

Steve,
Thanks for the tips. Since the rust/paint removal wheel attached to a power drill hasn't been working that well, I may borrow a grinder from our machine shop here to try, with a wire brush wheel. I quickly realized I should wear safety goggles about 10 seconds into the paint stripping process, when I saw paint chips shooting around. :) The motors (and blades) won't be in the mower deck when I clean and paint it, so I shouldn't need to worry about water getting into the motors.

Thanks,
Mike

For paint I use a wire brush in an angle grinder. I think it works
faster than most 'home-type' sandblasting setups. It does take time and
soem areas are hard to get to. Also watch out for flying wires -
definately need safety glasses and long sleeves/pants.

For gunk, a scaper should work - assuming you'll be repainting;
otherwise use a wood or plastic tool. I wouldn't wash under the deck as
the motors have weep holes at the bottom.

If anyone has any tips on getting the
paint off (short of sand blasting), cleaning the gunk off the underside
