Re: (ET) mulching





 I agree that there are two types of original blades, those with high lift 
and those with low lift. I also agree that
 the high lift blades will mulch better than the low lift blades. But, I 
don't think GE intended the high lift blades
 to be mulchers. Instead I would speculate that they were intended for use 
on the side discharge decks, since more
 airflow would be required for side discharge. The rear discharge doesn't 
need any airflow really...just cut it and
 drop it. So of course by being able to use a low lift blade power 
consumption is reduced.

 I personally wouldn't consider the side discharge option "lucky". Unless 
you use a bagger. I am much happier with the
 rear discharge. In fact I have one of the "new" Bill Gunn built decks, it 
has no side discharge option, strictly rear
 discharge, and no baffles.
