Re: (ET) New wiring question?

I put the DCX-300-ET in my E-15 a year ago December. Since it wasn't
running when I got it and I was itching to get it ready to blow snow, I
didn't take the time to upgrade the wiring. I sanded and used KoprShield
on
all the lug connections and replaced any of the small (18 ga.) wiring that
was obviously corroded, but other than that I convinced myself I'd take it
apart again and upgrade the wiring... later.

So far that hasn't happened and the only thing that really isn't right is
the ammeter - it pegs in the red pretty often when I'm doing normal
things,
so I guess the 20" shunt wire is higher resistance than nominal...

Someday when I get the shed built so I get a little more room in the
garage,
I'll get back to it...

Meanwhile the DCX-300-ET is just great. See http://jpjt.net/et/ for notes
I
put together last year (nothing new if you've already seen it). The
photos
of the foot pedal I adapted to the Curtis pot-box that I got with the
controller from Alltrax are posted on

I am about to do the same thing, and am anxious to hear what other people
have
done.

I got some surplus 4 guage welding cable from a friend. I think that the
little
tiny strands are actually bad for this application (higher resistance?)
but
the
price was right. Now I am debating whether to try crimp lugs or solder.
Crimp
seems iffy without the expensive proper crimper. I assume that solder is
just a
propane torch and some big fat solder wire. Any practical comments or
experience?

Thanks,
Eric
