Re: (ET) Blown I5 Part

Thanks RJ,

No, my Homeowner's Service Manual went along with my E12M when I sold it.

The soldiering is easy. Determining the correct replacement parts is the tricky part.

You have issues with both the Diode Varistor Assembly, which is most of the field control circuitry, and the Diode Array, which has to do with armature contactor control. Do you have a Homeowner's Service Manual? If you do, repairing these yourself isn't much of a chore. A trip to RadioShack®, some quality time with the soldering pencil of your choice, and you'll be ready for the next snowfall.

Subject: (ET) Blown I5 Part

Hello folks,

My I5 is a bit temperamental lately. A couple of weeks ago it blew open
a small diode behind the firewall. While that diode was out the I5 had
one fast forward speed. I replaced that diode and the other forwards
speeds worked again, but I also noticed a blow/corroded MOV or
capacitor on another board of unknown function. I'm not sure what it is
and I don't have a schematic.

Can anyone tell me what this part is?
