Back in the garage, I found that the new relay I'd bought from Bill Gunn and held in reserve didn't fix the problem. It appeared to be (another) card problem. At that point I decided it wasn't productive use of my time to (again) troubleshoot the card.
Ok, that makes sense. The E20 card4 is rather simple actually; no capacitors mostly just diodes and two transistors.
I've never had a problem with the edge cable connector either. Maybe it doesn't break because it's smaller than the E15 one.
The person who is devoted to maintaining the ET in original trim (for whatever reason) might do well to consider a complete rebuild of the control electronics, using all new components.
Possibly. If you have a non-super smart Elec-trak (E12, E20, and such) a simple replacing of the diodes might do it. The E12 has two; the E20 probably has 8 or so.
I'll see how tough that is. However right now cruising around in speeds 1-5 only is for the birds. I need my field weakening :-)
