yesterday while testing some meters with standard et charger i decided to 
see 
what would happen if i hooked up the power use meter to 36v from charger.  
it 
had worked fine testing the fuel level meters.  but the power use meter 
went 
hiss and a puff of white smoke and is now probably dead.  perhaps if i had 
hooked the pos and neg up the opposite way all would have been ok.  don't 
know, 
but may shed light on problem with your meter.  good luck, jon k
