Hi to all ElecTrak people. I find it very difficult to give up on completing the installation of the AllTrax DCX 300 ET in my E20 tractor. History: My E20 was purchased new and has mowed the lawn, pulled a 10” turning plow, a scraper blade and other pieces of equipment for years.. The tractor model is 26AE20DA with SN KR26 016, 03/31/1973, and the Motor is GE ElecTrak motor #5BCY56TA2.
At this point the prospects are bleak. I am now awaiting my 3rd controller which AllTrax said will be ready by the time the RMA unit gets there. The last unit, SN 5569, experienced a failure in the field switching circuitry or something like that, same as the first unit, SN 5585. The replacement unit was carefully installed without the PTO. I backed the tractor out of the garage and switched from reverse to forward and a surge of current pegged and killed my power meter before I could turn off the main switch. Right now I don’t know what to do. Will Version 6 of the DCX300ET which AllTrax has promised do the job or is my motor one that resides outside the controllable specs of the controller.
Please let me hear from you if you know of anyone with a successful installation of the DCX300 ET in a tractor with my type of motor or will I need to change to a different type of motor. My present motor passes all the tests using 2 small 12V batteries. It runs both forward and backwards just like new! Thank you very much, Raymon R. Ellis
