Yup, RJ, been there.  I don't need a new rod, nothing wrong with the old 
one, nut just worked loose, unusual as it's a 3/8 x 32 thread with a 
lock washer.  I don;t think it was bucks, just lack of thought.  Over 
the years, I worked with a lot of JD people, most were pretty good.

i was an 'injineer", mostly reliability and test,  made the designers 
put together and take apart what they cooked up (lost a few (;-'))
